Senators start quick, breeze to 78-60 win over Chattanooga State 

MORRISTOWN, TN – Walters State shot the lights out in the opening 20 minutes on Wednesday evening against Chattanooga State, scoring 46 points on their way to a 78-60 win over the Tigers.

With the victory, Walters State improved to 15-8 overall and 9-5 in TCCAA play. 

Da'Mori Lytch led the way for the Senators in the game with 16 points, while Aiden Goins scored 15 and Charvez Ambrose added 14. Malaki Brooks also had 13 points, while Anthony Davis Jr. had six points, Elijah Clinton had five points, Carter Metz had three points, Stevlen Morris had three points and Alex Garcia had three points. 

Walters State shot the ball as well as they have all year to start on Wednesday, breaking out to a 19-2 lead in the first seven minutes of the game. During the run, Goins scored, Lytch scored, Brooks scored, Davis Jr. scored, Brooks hit a three, Davis Jr. scored again, Ambrose hit a three and Garcia hit a three. 

The lead grew to 24-5 after a three by Ambrose and two free throws by Lytch, and it was 34-12 following five straight points from Brooks. The lead eventually got to 41-19 following a Morris three and Lytch basket, and Walters State led 46-28 at the break. 

In the second half, Chattanooga State got the lead down to 11 with seven minutes to go at 61-50, but the Senators got a basket from Ambrose, five straight by Goins and a three by Brooks to go up 71-50 with four minutes to go. The Senators cruised from there and took the 18-point win.

In the second half, Goins had 11 points while Lytch and Ambrose had six points each.
