Walters State tees it up in second round of Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate

SEVIERVILLE, TN – Walters State was back on the course on Monday, improving their team score by four shots in the second round of the Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate.    

After the second round, Walters State currently sits in 14th place with a team score of +34. UT-Martin currently sits in first place at 10-under.   

Walters State was led in the second round by Chad Homan, who shot an even par 72. Homan shot 1-under on the front nine and is in a tie for 27th place at 2-over for the tournament. 

Behind him, Nate Vaughan and Justin Cowden each shot a 4-over 76. Vaughan is at 10-over for the tournament and is in a tie for 62nd place while Cowden and Hunter Hartman, who shot a 7-over today, are in a tie for 65th at 11-over. Harman shot a 2-under on the front nine on Monday.  

Rounding out the Senators, Zach Wood shot a 12-over on the day and is at 25-over for the tournament.  

The Senators are one of two junior colleges in the tournament this week and are ahead of Roane State after the second round.  

Walters State alum Alex Hodge, now a member of the Carson-Newman golf team, shot a 4-over 76 today and is currently tied for 23rd place. The Eagles are in fourth place at 4-under.  

UP NEXT:  

Walters State will be back on the course Wednesday for round two of the Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate. The Senators are set to tee-off at 8:50 a.m.
