Walters State’s Talley in a tie for fourth after first day of Battle at Barnsley

ADAIRSVILLE, GA – Walters State's Nick Talley is in a tie for fourth-place after the first day of the Battle at Barnsley on Monday at Barnsley Gardens.

 

Talley opened the day with a two-over, 72, and finished things off with a second round four-over, 76. As a team, Walters State is in ninth-place at 72-over.

 

Talley started his first round strong with a birdie on two. He would go on to birdie holes 10, 15 and 16 and shoot even-par on the back-nine. In the second round, Talley birdied the fifth hole. 

 

Along with Talley, Ian Kinsey is in a tie for 38th-place at 18-over. Kinsey shot nine-over, 81, in both rounds and birdied holes one and nine in round one and hole 10 in round two.

 

Other golfers for the Senators were Sloan Brooks (25-over, T55th), Bowen Brantley (25-over, T55th) and Jonas Rayfield (37-over, 68th). Brooks had a birdie on hole five in round one and shot a 15-over, while he birdied holes two and six in round two and shot 10-over. 

 

Meanwhile, Brantley birdied hole 16 in round one and shot 15-over and finished 10-over in round two. Lastly, Rayfield birdied hole 12 in round one and shot 13-over and birdied hole 17 in round two and shot 24-over.

Walters State will be back in action on Tuesday for the final 18 holes of the Battle at Barnley at Barnsley Gardens.
