Senators finish in fifth at ALC Eagle Invitational

COHUTTA, GA – Walters State closed out their fall golf season on Tuesday with a fifth-place finish at the ALC Eagle Invitational.

 

The Senators shot a 300 in round two to finish the tournament at 21-over (597). Cleveland State won the tournament with a 10-over team score. 

 

Connor Price bounced back on Tuesday to lead the way for the Senators, shooting a 1-under (71). Price birdied holes two and six on the front nine to go 2-over and shot a 3-under on the back now, birdieing holes 14, 15 and 17. Price finished in a tie for 17th for the tournament at 6-over. 

 

Following Price on the day was Jeremy Ellis, shooting a one-over (73). Ellis shot a 3-under on the front nine after birdieing holes two, four and five. He also birdied the 11th hole. Ellis was the top finisher for Walters State in the tournament with a tied for eighth finish at 2-over. 

 

JT McKenzie and Sawyer Spoone both closed out the tournament with 6-over rounds on Tuesday. McKenzie birdied holes one, six, seven and eight to shoot 2-under on the front nine. He birdied the 15th hole on the back nine and finished in a tie for 21st in the tournament with an 8-over score. 

 

Spoone finished in a tie for 27th for the tournament at 10-over. Spoone birdied the seventh hole on Tuesday. 

 

Rounding out the team was Ashton Pratt, who shot a 10-over on Tuesday to finish in 34th place for the tournament at 12-over. Pratt birdied the second, seventh and 13th holes.  

 

Roane State's Nick Daugherty won the tournament at 4-under.
