BRISTOL, TN – No. 7 Walters State has three players in the top-10 following the first two rounds of the NJCAA DII Southeast District Championship on Monday afternoon at Bristol Country Club. 

As a team, the Senators are in second place with a team score of six-over. The Senators shot a 280 in round one and followed it up with a 294 in round two.

Roane State is currently in first place at two-under. 

The Senators were led on Monday by Jeremy Ellis. Ellis is in second place at three-under after shooting a four-under in round one and a one-over in round two. Ellis started the day with birdies on holes five, seven, nine, 13 and 14 in the first round. In round two, Ellis birdied the third, eighth and 11th holes.

Along with Ellis, Sawyer Spoone is in a tie for fourth place at even-par. Spoone shot a two-over in the first round with birdies on one, eight and 13 and followed it up with a two-under in round two. In the second round, Spoone birdied the sixth, 13th and 14th holes and had just one bogey. 

AJ Rinehart also sits in the top-10 for the Senators after the first two rounds, tied for sixth at one-over. Rinehart shot a one-under in round one, birdieing holes four, six, nine and 14. In round two, he shot a two-over with birdies on eight, 13 and 16. 

Rounding out the day for Walters State were Chad Homan (19th) at eight-over and JT McKenzie (24) at 15-over. Homan shot a one-under in round one with birdies on four, six, 14 and 18 while McKenzie shot a three-over in round one with birdies on six, eight, 12 and 14. In round two, Homan shot a nine-over with a birdie on eight while McKenzie shot a 12-over with birdies on six and 15.
