Two Senators tied for first place after first round of Walters State Fall Classic

MORRISTOWN, TN – Five players are tied for first place after the opening round of the Walters State Fall Classic played Monday at The Country Club.

 

Walters State teammates Sawyer Spoone and Ashton Pratt shot one-under to finish with a score of 71. They are currently tied with Cleveland State's Dalton Sutton, Riley Brown of Tusculum and Carson-Newman's Steven Haremski. Sitting one strike back is Seth Robinette of Roane State and the Raiders' Kieran McCarthy is one over at 73.

 

Spoone started his round on a high note as he eagled the first hole and then had birdies on the sixth and seventh holes. Pratt had two birdies on both the front nine and back nine.

 

Other Senator scores include AJ Rinehart in eighth place with a score of 74, Jeremy Ellis carded a 77 to tie for 17th place and JT McKenzie is tied for 29th place with an 82. Connor Price and Jack Leach each played as individuals with Price shooting a 79 to land in 22nd place and Leach with a score of 82 to tie for 29th.

 

Host team Walters State has a three-stroke lead over Roane State as the team fired a 293. The Raiders finished the day at 296. Carson-Newman's B team is in third place at 305. With a score of 310, Spartanburg Methodist and Cleveland State are tied for fourth. Rounding out the team scoring is Tusculum's B team (312), Belmont Abbey's C team (317), Tusculum's C team (321) and Mars Hill (337).  

 

Round two of the tournament begins on Tuesday morning with a shotgun start at 9 a.m.
