BRISTOL, TN – Walters State qualified for the NJCAA DII Golf Championship on Tuesday afternoon, finishing in second place in the Southeast District Championship at The Golf Club of Bristol.
After shooting three-under for their first 36 holes on Monday, the Senators closed things out in round three on Tuesday with a 296 (12-over). That was good enough for nine-over for the tournament.
Leading the way for Walters State were Bowen Brantley and Sloan Brooks in a tie for fifth at one-over. Both shot one-over (72) in round three, as Brantley had birdies on holes three, seven, nine, 13 and 14 and Brooks birdied hole 16 and made just two bogeys.
Also finishing in the top-10 for Walters State were Nick Talley (9th) and Ian Kinsey (T10). Talley finished the tournament at three-over, after shooting a four-over (75) in round three. He birdied the first, second, sixth and 14th holes. Meanwhile, Kinsey finished the tournament at four-over and shot six-over (77) on Tuesday. He birdied the first hole.
Rounding out the team was Jack Leach in a tie for 19th at 14-over. Leach shot a six-over (77) in round three and birdied the ninth hole.

Walters State will be back in action at the NJCAA DII Golf Championship at Twin Hills Golf & Country Club in Joplin, MO. The tournament will take place from May 21-24.
