Senators in fifth place after two rounds at NJCAA DII Golf Championship

PLYMOUTH, IN – Walters State produced the second lowest round of the day on Wednesday at the NJCAA DII Golf Championship, moving up three spots to fifth place after two rounds.

 

The Senators as a team shot five-over on the day and are at 10-over for the tournament. Kirkwood CC is in first place at one-under. 

 

Leading the way for Walters State in round two was AJ Rinehart. Rinehart shot the low round of the day out of all 127 players, a four-under, and sits in a tie for third for the tournament at four-under. In his second round, Rinehart birdied holes six, seven, nine, 12, 13, 15 and 18. He shot a two-under on both the front and back nines. 

 

Rinehart is three shots off the leader, Warner Beach from Glendale CC. 

 

Along with Rinehart, JT McKenzie shot a two-over, 74, to put himself at five-over and in a tie for 33rd. McKenzie had birdies on holes five, six, 15 and 18.

 

Right behind McKenzie on the day was Sawyer Spoone with a 75. Spoone is in a tie for 14th at one-over and had birdies on Wednesday on holes two, four, five and 18. 

 

Rounding out the day was Chad Homan (T-55) and Jeremy Ellis (T-80). Homan shot a 76 on Wednesday with birdies on five, 12 and 15 while Ellis shot an 80 and birdied the first and 15th holes. 

 

Up Next:


Walters State will be back in action for round three on Thursday at Swan Lake Resort. Swan Lake Resort is a Par 72.
