Walters State concludes Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate

SEVIERVILLE, TN – Walters State concluded the Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate on Tuesday afternoon, their first tournament of the spring season. 

 

The Senators finished the tournament in 14th place at 47-over and finished ahead of the only other junior college, Roane State, in the tournament. UT-Martin finished in first.  

 

The Senators were led in the final round by Hunter Hartman and Nate Vaughan, who both shot 2-over. Hartman was one-under on the back nine today. Vaughan finished the tournament at 12-over and in 56th place while Hartman was 13-over and in 59th place. 

 

The low scorer in the tournament for Walters State was Chad Homan. Homan shot a 5-over in round three and finished the tournament at 7-over. That was good enough for 37th place.  

 

Finishing out the team, Justin Cowden shot a 4-over on Tuesday that put him at 15-over for the tournament, good for 63rd place. Zach Wood shot an 11-over that put him at 36-over for the tournament.  

 

Walters State alum Alex Hodge, now a member of the Carson-Newman golf team, finished the tournament in 15th place at even par. The Eagles came in fourth place.

Walters State will be back in action next Monday as they participate in the Tusculum Spring Invitational at Graysburg Hills Golf Course.
