Walters State in ninth place after second round of NJCAA Div. II Golf Championship

PLYMOUTH, IN – Fighting wind all day, the Walters State golf team continued their quest for a national title on Wednesday afternoon at Swan Lake Resort Black Course.  

As a team, the Senators shot a 309 on Wednesday and sit in ninth place at 35-over. South Mountain Community College still holds the lead after two rounds, shooting a three-under 573 as a team through the first two rounds.  

Individually, Hunter Hartman still leads Walters State after two rounds. Hartman sits in a tie for 21st place after shooting a three-over 75 on Wednesday. Hartman birdied holes six and nine but fell victim to three straight bogeys on the back nine.  

Along with Hartman, Chad Homan is in a tie for 34th place after shooting a 75 on Wednesday. Homan birdied holes nine, 15 and 17.. Nate Vaughan is behind Homan in a tie for 42nd place after shooting a 79 on Wednesday. Vaughan birdied the par five fifth and par three eighth. 

Rounding out the scoring in a tie for 90th place is Hogan Herring and Justin Cowden. Cowden shot an 80 on Wednesday while Herring finished with an 84.  

South Mountain's Cecil Belisle currently leads the tournament, shooting nine-under through two rounds.
