Walters State in 12th place after third round of NJCAA Div. II Golf Tournament

PLYMOUTH, IN – Walters State competed in round three of the NJCAA Div. II Golf Tournament on Thursday afternoon at Swan Lake Resort Black Course.  

After two solid days on the course, the Senators struggled on day three, falling three spots to 12th place with a team total after three rounds of 62-over.  

Parkland State overcame South Mountain State and is in first place in the tournament by one-shot with a score of 10-over.  

Individually, Walters State is still led by Hunter Hartman. Hartman sits in a tie for 33rd after shooting an 80 in round three. Hartman birdied holes five and 15, both par-5's.  

The low score of the day came from Nate Vaughan. Vaughan, who is in 36th place, shot a 76 in round three. Vaughan birdied five and 14 and then capped off his round with and eagle on the par-5 15th.  

Chad Homan follows closely behind Vaughan after three rounds in a tie for 40th. Homan shot an 80 on Thursday and, like his teammate Vaughan, eagled the par-5 15th.  

Rounding out the scoring was Hogan Herring and Justin Cowden. Herring shot the second-best score on the day for the Senators, entering the clubhouse with a 79. Herring had one birdie on the day as he birdied hole 15. Cowden finished the day with an 83, tallying three birdies on the fourth, 15th and 17th

South Mountain's Cecil Belisle still leads the tournament at six-under, holding a three-shot lead.
