HARRIMAN, TN – No. 17 Walters State battled through one of their tougher matchups of the season on Tuesday evening and overcame a second set loss to take down Roane State 3-1 (25-20, 24-26, 25-15, 25-16).  

With the win, Walters State remains undefeated at 9-0. They are 7-0 in the conference.  

The Lady Senators battled through the first two sets before pulling away in sets three and four.  

In set one, the Lady Senators and Lady Raiders both started off strong and were deadlocked at 11. The two teams battled back-and-forth from there before both teams were tied at 18. From there, the Lady Senators scored the next five points and forced a Roane State timeout. The Lady Raiders scored two straight after that to make it interesting, but Walters State closed out set one.  

In set two, the Lady Raiders came out firing and broke out to a huge lead before Walters State rallied off eight of the next nine points to make it 19-18. The Lady Senators would eventually tie the set up, but the Lady Raiders took advantage of Walters State errors late to take the set.  

From there, Walters State battened down the hatches and took control of the match with two very convincing sets to remain undefeated.  

UP NEXT: 

Walters State will be back in action on Thursday, March 4, taking on Chattanooga State. The Lady Senators took down Chatt State 3-0 both times this season.
