Lady Senators compete at Wallace State Fall Bash

HANCEVILLE, AL – Facing a quick turnaround from their sweep of Roane State on Thursday, Walters State traveled to Wallace State for their Fall Bash on Friday and Saturday. The Lady Senators battled but fell to Itawamba 3-1 and Spartanburg Methodist 3-0 on Friday and fell 3-0 to Vincennes University and No. 20 in DI Wallace State on Saturday. 

 

With the losses, Walters State fell to 7-6 on the season. 

 

Against Itawamba, Mackenzie Sweigart led the way with 11 kills while Jordan Moore added 10. Faith Heskett had 23 digs while Allison Singleton and Hannah Freeman each had 15 assists. 

 

In the Lady Senators second match on Friday against Spartanburg Methodist, Singleton had 11 assists and Heskett 12 digs. Sweigart and Mercedes Collins each had five kills.

Walters State will be back in action on Tuesday on the road against Chattanooga State. The Lady Tigers and Lady Senators are tied with 2-1 records in Region VII play with Chattanooga State winning a five-set thriller in the two teams' first matchup this season. That match is set to begin at 6:30 p.m. 

 

Following the Chattanooga State match, Walters State returns home on Wednesday for two matches. The Lady Senators play University of Charleston JV at 3 p.m. and Cumberland University JV at 7 p.m. The two JV teams will play in between the Lady Senators' matches.
