MORRISTOWN, TN – Walters State finished off the Walters State Invitational on Saturday afternoon with two wins. The Lady Senators took a 3-0 (25-9, 25-13, 25-9) sweep over Andrew College before winning a five-set thriller over Spartanburg Methodist, 3-2 (19-25, 25-22, 24-26, 25-19, 15-10). 

 

With the wins, Walters State improved to 19-7 overall. 

 

Against Andrew College, Finley Surber had 10 kills, four blocks and five digs while Mattie Davis had seven kills and two blocks. Other contributors were Haylee Richardson with seven kills and two blocks and Jaci Drinnon with 12 digs and four aces. The Lady Senators added seven aces to go along with Drinnon's four. 

 

In the come from behind win over Spartanburg Methodist, Drinnon had 35 digs while Lauren Mims had 18 digs, 10 kills and five blocks. Other Lady Senator contributors included Catherine Sweeney with nine kills and three blocks, Surber with nine kills, Alyssa Campbell with eight kills and four blocks and Olivia Brown with 25 assists and four aces.

Walters State will be back in action next week for their final two conference games. The Lady Senators will play at Chattanooga State on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. before hosting Cleveland State on Thursday at 6:30 p.m.
