CHATTANOOGA, TN – Second seeded Walters State earned their fourth sweep of the season over Roane State on Friday in the Region 7 Tournament Semifinals, 3-0 (25-22, 25-17, 25-15).

With the win, Walters State moved to 14-12 on the season and advanced to the Region 7 Finals on Saturday at 1 p.m. against top seeded Chattanooga State. Walters State fell all three times to Chatt State in the regular season.

Roane State came out with the first two points of the match and led 4-2 before a kill and block from Jordan Moore tied the set at four. Moore added another kill a point later to give the Lady Senators a 5-4 lead.

The Lady Raiders would retake the lead and go up 10-8 before Walters State answered with three straight to go back up, 11-10. Roane State tied things again at 13 before three more points by the Lady Senators made it 16-13 and forced a Roane State timeout.

Roane State made one last push and tied the set at 18, but the Lady Senators once again fired off three straight points to force another Roane State timeout. Walters State closed the set out with a ferocious kill by Moore.

In set two, the two teams were tied at two, three, five, seven, eight, nine, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16 and 17. Following the final tie though, it was all Lady Senators.

The Lady Senators took the lead 20-17 with back-to-back-back errors from Roane State. Walters State went up four on a kill from Maddie Rockrohr and forced a Roane State timeout. Coming out of the timeout, Mackenzie Sweigart tallied a kill before Brittany Kitchens recorded an ace to bring up set point.

A ball out gave the Lady Senators their eighth-straight point and the set to go up 2-0 in the match.

In the final set, Roane State went up 3-1 and then 6-3 but a Moore kill and two kills from Maddie Rockrohr tied it at 6. Walters State took the lead from there and an ace by Moore made it 8-6.

The Lady Senators kept the foot on the gas from there and led 14-9 before an error by Roane State and kill from Bella Webb made it 16-9. Any chance of a comeback was put to rest at 18-10 when Moore recorded a monstrous kill. A ball hit out by Roane State gave Walters State a 25-15 third set victory.
