No. 13 Walters State takes down Cleveland State for third time this season

CLEVELAND, TN – No. 13 Walters State bounced back from their first loss of the season in a big way Tuesday evening, taking down Cleveland State 3-1 (25-19, 25-21, 23-25, 25-17).

With the win, Walters State improves to 12-1 on the season and 9-0 in conference play. The victory also clinched the number one seed in the Region 7 tournament.

It was a solid start for Walters State as they got out to a 5-1 lead early. While Cleveland State battled back in the set, the Lady Senators never lost control and took home set one for the 13th straight match.

The Lady Senators and Lady Cougars continued to battle in set two before the Lady Senators pulled away and went up 2-0. However, with the comfortable lead, Walters State fell out of focus during set three and Cleveland State took advantage to make it 2-1.

However, as they have done almost every time they have lost a set this season, Walters State responded in a big way, easily taking home the fourth set for the victory.

UP NEXT:

Walters State will be back in action on Thursday for their next-to-last home match. The Lady Senators will take on Roane State at 6:30 p.m., a team they have beaten 3-1, 3-0 and 3-1 the three times they have battled this season.
