JOPLIN, MO – No. 8 Walters State opened up play on Tuesday in the opening round of the NJCAA DII Championship at Twin Hills Golf and Country Club.
As a team, the Senators are in 18th place with a 37-over score. Meridian CC is in first at seven-over.
Nate Vaughan led the way for the Senators with a six-over, 78. He is in a tie for 42nd place.
Along with Vaughan, Jeremy Ellis and AJ Rinehart each shot 10-over, 82's. Ellis birdied the ninth hole while Rinehart birdied the 569-yard par-five 16th. They are in a tie for 90th.
Rounding out the scoring was Sawyer Spoone (T-100) and Hunter Hartman (T-116). Spoone finished the round with an 11-over, 83, while Hartman birdied holes one and 16 and finished with a 15-over, 87.
Kirkwood's JD Pollard is in first at four-under.
