JOPLIN, MO – Walters State improved their score in the NJCAA DII Golf Tournament by 14 shots on Wednesday at Twin Hills Golf and Country Club, sitting in 11th-place as a result.
As a team, the Senators shot 13-over on the day to sit at 40-over for the tournament. Individually, Nick Talley continues to climb, sitting in a tie for sixth-place at two-over.
The second round was suspended due to darkness with six teams still on the course. They will finish their round Thursday morning.
On Wednesday, Talley shot an even-par, 72. Talley birdied the first hole and seventh holes, before grabbing a birdie on the 12th hole on his back nine. Talley shot one-under on the front nine and one-over on the back nine and is four shots off the lead.
Along with Talley, Bowen Brantley is in a tie for 25th at six-over for the tournament. Brantley shot a one-under, 71, in his second round with birdies on holes seven, 12, 16 and 17. Brantley shot a one-under on the back nine.
Sloan Brooks (T59), Ian Kinsey (T93) and Jack Leach (T102) all shot seven-overs in their second rounds. Brooks birdied holes six and 14 and is at 13-over for the tournament. Meanwhile, Kinsey is at 19-over for the tournament. Leach birdied holes one, six and 18 in his second round, sitting at 21-over for the tournament.
