Bowen Brantley wins East Tennessee Collegiate, Senators finish runner-up

JOHNSON CITY, TN – Bowen Brantley came into Tuesday's final round of the East Tennessee Collegiate needing to shoot a consistent 18 holes in order to win the tournament, and that's exactly what he did.

Brantley, entering Tuesday with a three-shot lead at seven-under, made 16 pars and two birdies in his final round. Nine-under was more than enough for Brantley to claim the title by three shots.

As a team, Walters State finished in second-place at 12-under. It's the Senators' second straight runner-up finish. Walters State tied UT-Southern for first but lost in a scorecard playoff.

Brantley had birdies on holes nine and 13 to pace himself to the two-under, 70. Brantley ended the tournament going 30 straight holes without a bogey.

Along with Brantley, Nick Talley had an outstanding day. Talley shot even-par in his opening round on Monday but made two eagles on his way to a four-under, 68, on Tuesday. Talley eagled the 471-yard par-5 third and the 523-yard par-5 13th. He had a birdie on hole two, as well, and finished the tournament tied for fourth.

Sloan Brooks finished in sixth-place at three-under after shooting even-par, 72, on Tuesday. Brooks birdied the third, eighth and 13th holes.

Rounding out the team were Blake Woody and Jonas Rayfield. Woody shot four-over, 76, on Tuesday and had birdies on nine, 10 and 13 to finish in a tie for 18th. Meanwhile, Rayfield finished in a tie for 32nd-place after shooting nine-over, 81, in his final round. He birdied the 15th-hole.
