Senators lead Walters State Fall Classic after first round

MORRISTOWN, TN – Both Walters State teams are at the top of the leaderboard following the first round of the Walters State Fall Classic on Monday at The Country Club. 

The Senators A Team are in first-place after shooting a 17-over, 305 while the Senators B Team are in second-place after shooting a 19-over, 307.

Additionally, Ian Kinsey is in a tie for first-place at even-par, 72. Kinsey is tied with Carson-Newman's Ben Johnston.

The Senators A Team were led by Sloan Brooks and Nick Talley at three-over, 75. Brooks started three-over through his first three holes, he teed off on the second hole, but shot even-par the rest of the way with birdies on the fifth, sixth, 11th and first holes. 

Meanwhile, Talley birdied the opening hole as well as the 12th and 16th holes. Talley and Brooks are in a tie for seventh-place.

Along with those two, Bowen Brantley is in a tie for 10th-place after shooting a five-over, 77. Brantley birdied the first hole. 

The final two golfers on the A Team were Blake Dawson and Blake Woody in a tie for 15th-place at six-over. Dawson had birdies on holes seven, 11, 15 and 16 while Woody birdied holes one and five. 

On the B Team, Kinsey led the charge at even-par. Kinsey birdied the fifth, 11th, 15th and 16th holes and shot one-under on the back-nine. 

Next for the B Team were Jonas Rayfiled and Alex Gaetz at five-over. Both birdied the third hole, while Rayfield also had a birdie on 18. The duo are in a tie for 10th.

Rounding out the team were Tucker Mclain and Brant Kardatzke. Mclain shot nine-over, with a birdie on 11, and is in a tie for 24th-place. Meanwhile, Kardatzke is in a tie for 30th at 11-over. He had a birdie on the eighth-hole.

Walters State will close out the Walters State Fall Classic on Tuesday at The Country Club. The round will start at 9 a.m.
