Talley tied for lead at The Atomic City Classic after first round

OAK RIDGE, TNNick Talley has had an impressive fall season, and that continued on Monday.

Taking part in The Atomic City Classic at Oak Ridge Country Club, Talley shot a four-under, 68, to tie with Georgia Military's Brady Wentz for the lead after the opening round. 

As a team, Walters State is in second-place at three-under. UT Southern leads at eight-under.

Talley bogeyed the opening hole of the day but birdied the second and fifth holes. After a bogey on eight, Talley got back under-par with a birdie on nine. Talley then caught fire on the back-nine with birdies on holes 11, 14, 16 and 18 and had just one bogey. 

Along with Talley, Ian Kinsey and Sloan Brooks are both tied for 13th-place at even-par. Talley had three straight birdies on holes 3-5 and then birdied the 13th and 14th holes. Meanwhile, Brooks birdied the second, seventh and 12th holes to shoot even on both sides. 

Rounding out the team were Bowen Brantley in 18th-place at one-over and Alex Gaetz in 37th-place at six-over. Brantley birdied the second hole, fourth hole, 11th hole and 12th hole while Gaetz had a birdie on the 14th hole.

The Senators also had two individuals playing in Blake Woody and Blake Dawson. Woody is in fifth-place at two-under after birdies on holes 9-11 and a birdie on the 14th-hole. Meanwhile, Dawson finished at four-over with a birdie on five and a birdie on 12. Dawson is in 30th-place.
