OAK RIDGE, TN – Nick Talley was a man on a mission at The Atomic City Classic.
After shooting four-under in his opening round on Monday, Talley topped that score on Tuesday as he shot six-under to finish the tournament at 10-under. That score was good enough for a four-shot win.
As a team, the Senators finished in second-place at even-par. Walters State shot three-over on Tuesday.
Like Monday, Talley started his day with a bogey. This time, hole five was where things began to change as he eagled the 301 yard, par-four. Talley then birdied holes seven, nine, 10, 12, 14 and 17 and had just one bogey the rest of the way.
For the fall, Talley has a win, a second-place finish and two fourth-place finishes.
Along with Talley, Bowen Brantley and Ian Kinsey each finished in a tie for 11th-place at three-over. Brantley shot a two-over on Tuesday, with a birdie on holes 10 and 14 while Kinsey eagled the fifth-hole, along with Talley, and birdied holes four and nine to shoot three-over.
Rounding out the team were Sloan Brooks in 19th-place at five-over and Alex Gaetz in 37th-place at 10-over. Gaetz shot four-over on Tuesday with birdies on holes one, five and seven while Brooks shot five-over and had birdies on the fourth, eighth and 14th holes.
Playing as individuals, Blake Dawson and Blake Woody also competed for Walters State. Dawson had a great day on Tuesday, shooting two-under to finish in ninth-place at two-over. In his second round, Dawson birdied the fourth, fifth, 10th, 12th and 13th holes. He did not make a bogey on the back-nine.
Meanwhile, Woody shot eight-over on Tuesday with a birdie on the ninth hole.
