Senators tied for second at New People’s Bank Intercollegiate

BRISTOL, TN – Walters State sits in a tie for second-place following the opening round of the New People's Bank Intercollegiate at the Country Club of Bristol on Monday.

As a team, the Senators are 10-over. Cleveland State is also 10-over, while Roane State leads at one-over. 

Bowen Brantley led the charge for Walters State on Monday, in fourth-place at one-under. Brantley started his round on the second hole, birdieing it, as well as holes 12, 14 and 15. Brantley shot one-under on the back-nine. 

Along with Brantley, Nick Talley is in 11th-place at one-over. Talley came to the second-hole, he started his round on the fourth hole, at four-over but eagled the 476 yard par-5 second hole and birdied the third hole. Talley also had birdies on holes five, 11 and 18. 

Ian Kinsey was close behind Talley in 17th-place at three-over. Kinsey birdied the fourth hole and then had back-to-back birdies on 13 and 14. 

Rounding out the team were Sloan Brooks at seven-over in 29th-place and Blake Dawson in 50th-place at 14-over. Brooks birdied the second hole, the Senators shot four-under on the hole for the day, and the 12th and 16th holes. Meanwhile, Dawson had birdies on the sixth and ninth holes. 

Playing as an individual, Blake Woody is in seventh-place at even-par. Woody birdied the seventh hole, as well as holes 12 and 14.

Walters State will be back in action for their final round of the fall on Tuesday in the New People's Bank Intercollegiate at the Country Club of Bristol.
