Senators finish runner-up at Alice Lloyd Spring Invitational

RICHMOND, KY – Walters State shot 4-under in the final round of the Alice Lloyd Spring Invitational on Sunday at Battlefield Golf Course, allowing them to jump Indiana University East and finish in second-place.

As a team, the Senators shot 17-over for the tournament and finished one shot better than Indiana University East. Northwest Ohio won the tournament. 

Leading the way for Walters State in the tournament was Bowen Brantley with a fifth-place finish at 2-over. Brantley shot an even-par, 70, in his final round with birdies on the seventh, eighth, 11th and 16th holes. Brantley shot 1-under on the front nine and 1-over on the back nine. 

Along with Brantley, Blake Woody finished in sixth-place at 3-over. Woody was the top finisher for the Senators in Sunday's final round, shooting 5-under. Woody had just one bogey in his round and birdied the third, seventh, eighth, 11th, 16th and 18th holes. Woody shot 2-under on the front nine and 3-under on the back nine. 

Sloan Brooks was next for Walters State, finishing in a tie for 10th-place at 6-over. Brooks shot an even-par in his final round, with birdies on the seventh, ninth, 11th and 16th holes. 

The final finishers for the Senators team were Nick Talley in a tie for 13th at 8-over and Alex Gaetz in a tie for 19th at 12-over. Talley shot one-over on Sunday with birdies on the ninth and 11th holes, while Gaetz shot 6-over with a birdie on the 16th hole. 

As a team on Sunday, the Senators shot 4-under on the 11th and 16th holes and 3-under on the seventh hole. 

Playing as an individual in the tournament, Jonas Rayfield finished in a tie for 22nd at 13-over. Rayfield birdied the eighth and ninth holes.

Walters State will be back in action on Monday, March 31, in the Cleveland State Spring Invitational at the Ooltewah Club. The TCCAA schools in the tournament will also play for the Region 7 Championship.
