Defense took over in the third quarter with 20 combined points being scored on both sides. Jackson State took control late in the frame and led by four at the end of the third quarter.

Taking that momentum, the Green Jays continued their push in the fourth quarter, taking a seven-point lead. But the Lady Senators wouldn't go away. Led by Mullins, Walters State kept the game close and took the lead back with 3:41 remaining. From there, the Lady Senators were able to make their free throws down the stretch, holding on for a two-point win.
