Lady Senators pick up third straight TCCAA win with 68-40 victory over Motlow State

TULLAHOMA, TN – Walters State's Kiera Hill recorded her third double-double of the season on Wednesday evening against Motlow State as the Lady Senators cruised to their third straight conference win, 68-40. 

 

With the victory, the Lady Senators improve to 3-0 in TCCAA play and 3-2 overall. 

 

Hill had 25 points in the contest to go along with 14 rebounds as she led the way for the Lady Senators. Along with Hill, Vertonia Bady tossed in 11 points while Maiya Reed had seven points, eight rebounds, six assists and two steals. 

 

Walters State outrebounded Motlow 41-23 and had 16 assists on their 26 made baskets. 

 

It was a back-and-forth start to the game as the two teams were deadlocked at seven, five minutes in. However, the Lady Senators ended the quarter on a 7-2 run and led 14-9 after one. Hill was a perfect 3-3 in the first quarter with seven points. 

 

The second quarter really decided the game as Walters State scored 19 points in the 10 minutes and held Motlow to six points. Bady had seven points in the quarter on 3-3 shooting while HIll and Reed each had four. Walters State led 33-15 at the break.

 

Hill took the game over in the third quarter as she scored 12 of the Lady Senators 20 points in the quarter. Hill scored the final 12 points of the quarter for Walters State while Rose Morrow scored the first four.

 

In the fourth, both teams went through the motions as Walters State took home the easy victory. Germariona Hollingsworth had six points in the final frame.

Walters State will be back in action on Saturday as they return home to take on Dyersburg State. Tip is set for 2 p.m.
