Lady Senators back in the win column with 3-0 sweep over Bryan College JV

Dayton, Tenn. — After a game off, Walters State broke back out the brooms, to sweep the Bryan College Junior Varsity on their own floor with a 3-0 sweep at Summers Gymnasium Thursday night (25-18, 25-20, 25-20).

Freshman Taylor Tigue (Franklin, Tenn.) racked up 20 assists as she continually set up her teammates to deliver killshots at the net. Freshman Olivia Oxendine (Pensacola, Fla.) led the team in kills with 11. Sophomore Courtney Dotson (Greeneville, Tenn.) had eight to go with 11 assists of her own. Freshman Alaysia McGhee (Knoxville, Tenn.) put eight kills in the stat book and freshman Hannah Daniel (Bristol, Tenn.) had six.

In the back court, the digs were spread around as Sophomore Alexis Wakefield (Portland, Tenn.) led the way 13. Dotson recorded 10 with freshman Gracie Smith (Church Hill, Tenn.) and freshman Aubrey Cobb (Church Hill, Tenn.) notching nine apiece.

The victory was an opportunity to bounce back after a 3-0 loss to Catawba Valley in Hickory, N.C. on Tuesday. The Lady Senators (11-5) have won four of their last five and in those four victories, did not drop a single set.

Walters State returns to the floor Monday for a road game at Montreat College. First serve is set for 6 p.m. The Lady Senators will be back in the friendly confines of 'Z' Buda Gymnasium on Oct. 2 when they host Covenant College. Walters State is undefeated at home this season.
