Lady Senators close Wallace State Fall Bash with win over Lawson State, loss to Wallace State 

HANCEVILLE, AL – No. 13 Walters State ended their weekend at the Wallace State Fall Bash on Saturday with a split. The Lady Senators swept Lawson State 3-0 (25-10, 25-17, 25-13) before losing 3-0 (25-20, 27-25, 28-26) to Wallace State.

With the split, the Lady Senators moved to 11-3 on the season. 

In their opening match of the day, the Lady Senators cruised to the sweep over Lawson State.

Leading the way for Walters State was Lauren Mims with 15 digs, five kills and two aces. Along with Mims, Veda Barton had seven kills and three blocks while Finley Surber had six kills and a block and Annah Cate Hyatt had 12 assists and an ace. 

Against Wallace State, the Lady Senators battled close in all three sets but could not find their way onto the scoreboard. Payton Brown led the charge with 18 digs and two aces, while Mims had 10 digs, five kills, three blocks and two aces.

Other contributors for Walters State against Wallace State were Alyssa Campbell with eight kills and two blocks, Barton with five kills and four blocks, Catherine Sweeney with seven kills and five blocks, Rylee Haynie with 10 kills and three blocks, Hyatt with 16 assists and 10 digs and Olivia Brown with 17 assists and eight digs. 

Up Next:

Walters State will return home on Tuesday for a TCCAA matchup against Roane State. The match is scheduled to start at 6:30 p.m.
