MORRISTOWN, TN – The Walters State volleyball program has seen an enormous amount of success in recent years, and Tuesday added to that. 

On Tuesday, Lauren Mims was named an NJCAA DII Volleyball First Team All-American, while Rylee Haynie was named an NJCAA DII Volleyball Third Team All-American.

Mims is the first First Team All-American in program history, and it's the first time in program history two Lady Senators have been named All-Americans in the same season.

Mims and Haynie are the fourth and fifth All-Americans in program history, joining Jaci Drinnon (2023, Second Team), Jordan Moore (2022, Honorable Mention) and Olivia Oxendine (2020-21, Second Team). 

The First Team All-American honor caps off a record-breaking career for Mims at Walters State. Mims is the program record-holder for kills with 577 and for digs with 854. 

For the 2024 season, Mims finished with 481 digs and 324 kills. Mims had 53 service aces and 50 total blocks. Mims was second in the TCCAA in kills, first in digs by 49, fourth in service aces and ninth in total blocks. Mims had 19 matches during the season in which she recorded double-digit kills and digs. 

In postseason play, Mims shined the brightest. In six postseason contests, Mims had 73 kills and 102 digs. Mims was an All-TCCAA First Team member and the Region 7 Tournament MVP.

For Haynie, the Third Team All-American honor finishes up a fantastic freshman season. The TCCAA/Region 7 Freshman of the Year, Haynie finished the season with 237 kills, a 2.97 hitting percentage and 128 total blocks. Haynie was first in the TCCAA, and Top-20 in the country, in blocks, third in hitting percentage and fifth in kills. 

In postseason play, Haynie had 39 kills and an impressive 31 total blocks in six matches.
