HARRIMAN, TN – Tori Coffman made her first appearance in almost a month on Tuesday and was back like she never left.
Taking on Roane State in a doubleheader, Coffman entered in the final inning of game one for No. 8 Walters State and struck out two in a 15-0 win in five innings. In game two, Coffman started and struck out 11 as Walters State took a 12-0 win in six innings.
With the sweep, the Lady Senators improved to 37-7 overall and 27-5 in TCCAA play.
Along with Coffman, Kailey Dixon had six hits and seven RBI while Brooklyn Copley hit a home run in each game.
GAME ONE: No. 8 Walters State 15, Roane State 0 (5 Innings)
In game one, the Lady Senators scored 11 runs in the fourth inning to break a close game open.
Copley and Jules Johnson continued their torrid pace at the plate, each homering and driving in four runs. Dixon had four hits and two RBI, as well.
In the circle, Hayley Lawing (14-3) got the start and threw four innings. She allowed two hits. Coffman replaced Lawing in the fifth, making her first appearance since March 28, and struck out two in a 1-2-3 inning.
Walters State got on the board first in the game, as Copley singled home two runs in the top of the first to make it 2-0. The Lady Senators doubled their lead in the second, as Abigail Taylor scored on an error and Nora Mack scored on an error to make it 4-0.
In the fourth, Walters State blew the game open with 11 runs. Those runs came on a Johnson two-run home run, a Sarah Evers RBI single, a Carley Cook two-RBI single, a Dixon two-RBI triple, a Mack RBI single, a Johnson RBI double and a Copley two-run home run that made it 15-0.
In the fifth, Coffman came in and got two strikeouts and a pop out to end the game.
GAME TWO: No. 8 Walters State 12, Roane State 0 (6 Innings)
In game two, Coffman led the way with a two-hit shutout.
Coffman improved to 16-1 with the win. Coffman struck out 11 and gave up just two hits and two walks.
At the plate, Dixon hit a home run and drove in five runs. Mack had three hits and two RBI as well, while Copley hit another home run and drove in three runs.
The Lady Senators struck first two batters into the game, as Dixon doubled and scored on a Mack RBI single. Walters State added three more runs in the third, as Mack singled in another run and Copley smashed a two-run homer to make it 4-0. It was Copley's 16th home run of the season.
Walters State continued to score in the fourth, as Dixon hit a three-run home run to make it 7-0. The scoring concluded for Walters State in the sixth, as Dixon drove two in, Johnson singled home one, Copley singled home a run and Imari Golden singled in a run that made it 12-0.

Walters State will be back in action for their final regular season games on Thursday and Friday against Dyersburg State. Thursday's home doubleheader is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m.
