OXFORD, AL – After a week off, No. 5 Walters State returned to action on Friday at the JUCO Softball Extravaganza in Oxford, AL and picked up two wins, taking down Wabash Valley 6-1 and Southern Union State 8-0.

With the wins, the Lady Senators improved to 8-4 on the season.

GAME ONE: No. 5 Walters State 6, Wabash Valley 1

In game one of the day, Allie Jones allowed just one run on three hits in a complete game effort in the circle.

After Jones worked out of a bases-loaded jam in the top of the first, Walters State gave her some support in the bottom half of the inning. After Addison Beech singled and Mason walked to open up the inning, Delong scored them both on an RBI triple. After an RBI double by Alayna Ross scored Delong, Golden made it 4-0 with an RBI triple.

The Lady Senators increased their lead in the third on an RBI single by Golden that scored Faith Whited. Following a run in the top of the sixth for Wabash, Walters State got that run back in the bottom half of the inning as Mason tripled and scored on a Delong sacrifice fly that made it 6-1.

Jones ended the game from there, striking out two in the top of the seventh.
