No. 6 Walters State takes two games from No. 10 Chattanooga State

CHATTANOOGA, TN — No. 6 Walters State took the first two games from No. 10 Chattanooga State on Friday. The Lady Senators won game one by a score of 8-0 and game two by a score of 11-5. 


With the wins, Walters State improved to 20-0 on the season and 6-0 in TCCAA play. 



GAME ONE: No. 6 Walters 8, No. 10 Chattanooga State 0 (5 Innings) 


In game one, the Lady Senators used a 12 strikeout complete game performance from Tori Coffman (10-0) to secure the win. 


Following two scoreless innings to start, the Lady Senators got on the board first with a Halle Laramie solo homer. 


In the fourth, the Lady Senators added four runs to take control. Tatum Dye started things with a solo homer before Abigail Taylor singled to score a run. Kailey Dixon made it 4-0 with an RBI single before Kasey Bennett singled to score Sarah King


In the fifth, Laramie put the game to bed with her second home run of the game, a three-run shot. Coffman set them down in the bottom half to end the game. 


GAME TWO: No. 6 Walters State 11, Chattanooga State 5


In game two, the Lady Senators kept the scoring going for the win. 


Jules Johnson got the scoring started for the Lady Senators in the first with a two-run home run before Laramie hit her third homer of the day to make it 4-0. 


Chatt State got a run back in the bottom half of the first and tied the game with three in the second. However, the Lady Senators retook the lead in the top of the third on a bobbled grounder that scored Bennett. 


In the fourth, Brianna Beech made it 6-4 with a solo home run before Bennett blasted a two-run bomb to make it 8-4. Dye made it 9-4 with a solo home run in the fifth. 


In the sixth, the Lady Senators capped the scoring with back-to-back homers by Bennett and Johnson. Chatt State got one in the seventh but that was all. 


In the circle, Ashley Milligan got the start and allowed four runs while striking out one before being replaced by Coffman with two outs in the third. Coffman pitched the remainder of the game, striking out eight.
