
GASTONIA, NC – Walters State dropped two games at No. 15 Gaston College Tuesday, falling 14-5 and 10-2.
With the losses, the Lady Senators fell to 10-9 on the season.
GAME ONE: No. 15 Gaston 14, Walters State 5 (5 Innings)
In game one, the Lady Senators scored five runs in the top of the fifth but could not extend the game.
At the plate, Randi Delong hit her ninth home run of the season and drove in three runs while Allie Seritt homered and drove in two runs.
In the circle, Emma Myatt got the start and threw 1.2 innings. Myatt gave up six runs on four hits and struck out one. Alayna Ross pitched the third inning, allowing five runs, four earned, on four hits before Summer Smith pitched the final two innings. Smith gave up three runs on three hits while striking out one.
The Lady Senators got down 11-0 through four innings but showed some fight in the top of the fifth. After Abbie Young singled to lead off the inning, Seritt smacked a two-run homer over the fence in right. Olivia Neese followed up with a single, and Kendal Mason walked to bring up Delong. Delong took two pitches before smacking a home run over the fence in center that made it 11-5.
However, Gaston scored three in the bottom of the fifth and ended the game.
GAME TWO: No. 15 Gaston 10, Walters State 2 (5 Innings)
In game two, the Lady Senators scored in the second and third innings but a seven-run fourth inning by Gaston was too much to overcome.
At the plate, Imari Golden homered while Delong, Mason and Ross each collected hits.
In the circle, Makayla Ramsey got the start and threw 2.1 innings. Ramsey allowed three runs on four hits. Allie Jones replaced Ramsey and threw an inning, allowing four runs on five hits, before Lauren Ruehl pitched 0.2 innings. Ruehl allowed three runs on one hit.
The Lady Senators led early thanks to a second inning home run from Golden and then broke a 1-1 tie in the third with an RBI single by Ross that scored Mason.
However, Gaston scored two in the bottom of the third and seven in the fourth to take the win.

Walters State will be back in action on Friday, traveling to take on Southwest Tennessee for their TCCAA opener. First pitch of the doubleheader is set for 1 pm ET.
