MORRISTOWN, TN – Walters State's Randi Delong is off to a hot start to her freshman year and on Tuesday was rewarded for her effort by being named the NJCAA Softball Player of the Week.

It was an impressive four-game stretch for Delong. Taking on Gordon State, Delong hit four home runs and drove in nine runs. Delong had eight hits over the weekend and went a perfect 5-5 with two homers and four RBIs in the final game of the weekend.

Delong helped lead the Lady Senators to a 2-2 weekend over Gordon State, improving Walters State's record to 6-4 on the season. For the season, Delong is hitting .472 with five home runs and 17 RBIs. 

Delong is the second Walters State student-athlete named National Player of the Week this academic year. Walters State volleyball's Rylee Haynie was named NJCAA Defensive Player of the Week during the fall.
