MORRISTOWN, TN – Tori Coffman and Kasey Bennett can add All-American to their impressive resumes.
On Tuesday, the NJCAA announced their Softball All-Americans with Coffman being named to the First Team and Bennett being named to the Second Team.
Coffman earned First Team All-American honors after a record-breaking freshman season. Coffman finished the season with a record of 32-2, recording two saves as well. Coffman gave up just 30 earned runs all season for an ERA of 1.14. She totaled 296 strikeouts and allowed just 90 hits in 185.0 innings pitched.
Coffman was first in the country in wins, second in strikeouts, seventh in ERA and fifth in K/7 at 11.20.
Coffman was named the TCCAA Pitcher of the Year, as well. She is the first Walters State player to be named a First Team All-American since Jordan Fortel in 2017.
For Bennett, she was named an NJCAA Second Team All-American. Bennett hit .427 on the season, mashing 24 homers and driving in 77 runs. Bennett was top-25 in the country in RBIs, eighth in runs scored with 82 and top-15 in home runs.
Bennett was named the TCCAA Player of the Year, as well.
Coffman and Bennett helped Walters State to a 55-4 record, the best in program history. The Lady Senators were TCCAA Regular Season Champions, TCCAA/Region 7 Tournament Champions, Appalachian District Champions and finished in sixth-place at the NJCAA DI World Series. It was the best finish in program history at the World Series.
