
MORRISTOWN, TN – Coming off a combined 4-0 week, the Walters State basketball programs return home for a Wednesday night battle against Roane State.
The Senators and 24th-ranked Lady Senators enter play Wednesday with a combined 12-0 record in 2025. Last week, the Walters State men's basketball team picked up two big TCCAA wins, taking down first-place Columbia State 56-46 before avenging an early season loss to Southwest Tennessee with an 80-59 win over the Saluqis.
Meanwhile, the Lady Senators improved to 11-0 in conference play with a 72-41 win over second-place Columbia State and a 66-49 road win over Southwest Tennessee.
Earlier in the season, the Lady Senators snuck past Roane State with a 69-66 victory thanks to 18 points off the bench from Kyra Perkins. The men fell 84-80 in overtime to the Raiders with Aiden Goins scoring 21 points and collecting 13 rebounds.

Walters State
Taking on Columbia State, Walters State used a balanced attack to grab a 72-41 victory.
The Lady Senators had five score in double figures, with Raegan Starks leading the way with a season-high 23 points and nine rebounds. Others in double figures were Nyjah Gibbs with 12, Jahliya McDonald with 12, Terryauna Griffin with 11 and Kyra Perkins with 10.
Walters State shot 41% from the field and forced 22 turnovers.
On Saturday, Walters State scored 22 points in the fourth quarter to close strong in a 66-49 win over Southwest Tennessee.
Griffin led the way with 30 points, drilling five 3-pointers and collecting eight rebounds. Anaya Mulholland-Natt filled up the statsheet as well, with nine points, four assists, four steals, three rebounds and two blocks.
The Lady Senators improved to 14-4 overall and 11-0 in TCCAA play.
Roane State
Roane State comes into Wednesday's game on a five-game win streak.
On Monday, the Lady Raiders defeated Johnson University JV 66-56 and grabbed a 79-51 win over Jackson State on Thursday.
Against Jackson State, Jenna Bush had 25 points and eight rebounds, while Anaston Holt finished with 21 points and six rebounds. Layla Bouldin was also two points away from a double-double, finishing with eight points and 10 rebounds.
Roane State shot 55% from the field. The Lady Raiders improved to 8-7 overall and 7-3 in TCCAA play.
Men
Walters State
In Wednesday's 56-46 win over first-place Columbia State, Walters State's defense was on full display.
The Senators held Columbia State to 32% from the field and 2-15 from 3-point range. Offensively, Charvez Ambrose scored 12 second-half points to lead the way. Ambrose had 15 points, five assists and four rebounds, while Aiden Goins had 17 points and five rebounds. Carter Metz had nine points, as well.
On Saturday, a 40-33 Walters State lead ballooned to 71-38 thanks to a 31-5 run and, the Senators went on for an 80-59 win.
Ambrose again led the charge for Walters State with 28 points, going 10-13 from the field and 6-8 from 3-point range. Da'Mori Lytch had a double-double with 15 points and 14 rebounds. Walters State shot 49% from the field and was 17-20 from free throw range.
The Senators held Southwest Tennessee to 33% from the field and 2-10 from 3-point range.
Walters State improved to 12-6 overall and 7-3 in TCCAA play.
Roane State
Roane State went 1-1 last week, with a 103-80 win over Moc Valley Prep and a 96-84 loss to Jackson State.
Against Jackson State, Walters Campbell had 21 points and 14 rebounds while Jahiem Berry had 19 points. Marcus Black added 18 points, as well, while Jeremiah Taylor scored 15.
With the split, the Raiders come into Wednesday with a 11-7 record and 4-5 record in TCCAA play.

Walters State
Terryauna Griffin (Guard): Griffin has been a machine for Walters State this season, especially in conference play. Griffin averages 21.3 points per game in TCCAA play and is shooting 56.4% from the field in those games. Griffin's recorded 68 steals and has made 125 shots on the season.
Nyjah Gibbs (Forward): Gibbs enters the game as one of the top rebounders in the conference. Gibbs averages 8.2 rebounds per game and has had seven or more rebounds in six straight games. Gibbs has recorded a double-double three times this season.
Roane State
Layla Bouldin (Guard): Bouldin enters Wednesday's game averaging 14 points per game. Bouldin shoots 49% from 3-point range and 52.3% from the field. Bouldin has a 1.4 assist to turnover ratio.
Anaston Holt: Holt leads the conference in field goal and 3-point percentage, shooting 57.6% from the field and 51.4% from three. Holt averages 11.3 points per game.

Walters State
Da'Mori Lytch (Forward): Lytch has caught fire in 2025 for Walters State. In six games in the new year, Lytch is averaging 12.6 points and 8.6 rebounds per game. Lytch has finished with six double-doubles and is averaging 11 points and eight rebounds per game on the season.
Charvez Ambrose (Forward): Ambrose found his stride last week in the Senators two wins. Ambrose combined for 43 points in the two games, shooting 14-23 from the field and knocking down nine 3-pointers. Ambrose averages 10.6 points, 3.7 rebounds and 3.1 assists per game.
Roane State
Walter Campbell (Forward): The reigning Freshman of the Year, Campbell has been a force this season for the Raiders. Campbell averages 18.8 points and 10.4 rebounds per game. He's first in the conference in total rebounds with 176, fourth in total points with 320 and ninth in steals with 30.
Jaheim Berry (Guard): Berry leads the conference in 3-pointers made this season, while averaging 16.3 points per game. Berry has knocked down 55 treys and is shooting 42% from deep. Berry has 48 assists and averages five rebounds per game.
