Senators, 22nd-ranked Lady Senators host Chattanooga State

MORRISTOWN, TN – The Walters State basketball teams will look to complete a season sweep over Chattanooga State on Wednesday when the Tigers come to Morristown.

The 22nd-ranked Lady Senators are coming off a 73-36 win over Volunteer State, while the Senators fell to the Pioneers 74-73 in overtime. The Lady Senators improved to 17-4 overall and 14-0 in TCCAA play, while the Senators fell to 14-8 overall and 8-5 in TCCAA play.

Both Walters State teams won their previous matchups against Chattanooga State, the Lady Senators grabbing a 60-36 win while the Senators took an 89-67 win. Kyra Perkins had 17 points in the win for the women, while Aiden Goins and Da'Mori Lytch each had 15 points for the men.

Walters State

The Lady Senators are coming off one of their best halves of the season, outsourcing Volunteer State 46-12 on their way to the 73-36 win. In the win, Terryauna Griffin had 27 points, five rebounds, five assists, three blocks and two steals. Along with Griffin, Nyjah Gibbs and Jahliya McDonald had 11 points each while Kyara Perkins had nine points and eight rebounds. 

With the win, Walters State maintained a three-game lead in the TCCAA standings. The Lady Senators have won nine in a row and have not lost in 2025. 

On the men's side, the Senators led by 10 with four minutes to go but could not finish things off. Aiden Goins had 16 points in the game, while Da'Mori Lytch had 15 points and nine rebounds. Malaki Brooks added nine points, six rebounds and six assists. 

With the loss, Walters State sits three games back in the TCCAA standings. The Senators are in fourth-place. 

Chattanooga State

Both Chattanooga State teams enter Wednesday's games following losses on the road at Southwest Tennessee.

For the women, they fell to Southwest 64-62. Livia O'Dea led the way for the Lady Tigers with 17 points and nine rebounds, while Alicia Polk finished with 15 points and nine rebounds. Ja'Ka'Yah Draughn and Kimora Currie each added 10 points. 

With the loss, Chattanooga fell to 15-9 overall and 10-5 in TCCAA play.

For the men, they dropped a 69-61 decision to the Saluqis. Odell Bradley IV had 15 points and seven rebounds for the Tigers, while Nicholas Jones-Hill had 13 points. Janerus Snipe added nine points and 12 rebounds, as well. 

The Tigers fell to 15-6 overall and 10-4 in TCCAA play. Chattanooga sits one game ahead of Walters State in the standings.

Women

Walters State

Kyra Perkins (Forward): Perkins has been huge for Walters State over the last three games, totalling 52 points and 24 rebounds. For the season, Perkins is averaging 15.9 points per game and 5.5 rebounds. 

Terryauna Griffin (Guard): Griffin has been Walters State's most consistent player this season, averaging 17.8 points per game. Griffin is shooting 49% from the field and has scored 20 or more points in eight games this season. Griffin is coming off a 27 point showing against Volunteer State, going 11-18 from the field and 3-3 from 3-point range. 

Chattanooga State

Alicia Polk: Polk leads Chattanooga State in points per game, averaging 12.5 points. Polk averages 7.3 rebounds as well and shoots 40% from 3-point range. Polk has scored double digits in 17 games. 

Kimora Currie: Currie averages 11.2 points per game for Chattanooga State, while also collecting 5.8 rebounds per game. Currie is fourth in the conference with 54 steals.

Walters State

Da'Mori Lytch (Forward): Lytch has caught fire in 2025 for Walters State. In 10 games in the new year, Lytch is averaging 13.5 points and 8.6 rebounds per game. Lytch has recorded eight double-doubles and is averaging 11.6 points and 8.1 rebounds per game on the season.

Aiden Goins (Center): Goins leads Walters State in points per game, averaging 15.6 to go along with 5.5 rebounds. Goins is second in 3-point percentage at 47.1% and has scored double digits in 16 games this season. 

Chattanooga State

Odell Bradley IV (Forward): Bradley IV averages 11.5 points per game and 4.8 rebounds for the Tigers. Bradley IV has scored in double figures the last eight games, including 24 against Volunteer State and 21 against Roane State.

Janerus Snipe (Forward): Snipe is averaging a near double-double, 10.3 points and 8.2 rebounds per game. Snipe is first in the conference in field goal percentage at 67.5 and has recorded double digit rebounds in the last four games.
