
MORRISTOWN, TN – Kyra Perkins was named the NJCAA DI Women's Basketball Player of the Week on Wednesday for an impressive effort in the final week of the regular season.
Perkins is the first Lady Senator to be named NJCAA DI Women's Basketball Player of the Week since Tyasia Reed in February of 2023. Perkins was also named the TCCAA Women's Basketball Player of the Week.
Picking up two wins in the process, Perkins picked up back-to-back double-doubles against Motlow State and Jackson State. Against the Bucks, Perkins had 28 points and 14 rebounds. Then, on Sophomore Day, Perkins closed out her final regular season game in style with 20 points and 10 rebounds.
Perkins also had four assists and five steals during the two-game stretch.
For the season, Perkins is averaging 15.6 points and 5.9 rebounds per game.
Perkins and the Lady Senators are back in action on Saturday in the TCCAA/Region 7 Tournament at Southwest Tennessee Community College. Top-seeded Walters State will play on Saturday at 12 pm CT against the winner of Pellissippi State and Volunteer State.
